A man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle hit him in Apple Valley.

Apple Valley Police said officers were called to a crash at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and County Road 42 at about 7 p.m. Thursday.

The department said first responders found a 37-year-old man severely injured and unresponsive in the northbound lane. Officers and fire personnel immediately started CPR until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police said, based on several witness accounts, preliminary investigation suggests the man darted into traffic unexpectedly and was struck by a vehicle.

Neither the driver nor the passenger of the vehicle were injured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
