Man taken into custody after 6 crashes in Minneapolis Sunday

A man was taken into custody after a series of crashes Sunday afternoon and evening in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police said a man got into an altercation with security near the 2900 block of Chicago Avenue S. at about 4:20 p.m. The man then fled the area in a vehicle and was involved in a property damage crash at Cedar Avenue and Lake Street.


After that crash, police said the man fled west on E. Lake Street and got into another property damage crash at 13th and Lake. He then fled east and crashed at Cedar Avenue and Lake Street. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

Police said the man then fled on foot to another vehicle nearby and opened the car door, causing the driver and passenger of the vehicle to run away. The man then fled south in the vehicle, crashing into three more vehicles at 38th and Cedar. He then fled on foot.

Officers apprehended the man and transported him to a hospital. His identity had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon.

The investigation remains ongoing, and reports will be sent to the county attorney's office upon completion of the investigatio for review and charging.
