Authorities in Wisconsin say a man who was leaning against the driver's side of one vehicle Thursday night when he was struck by another was transported to River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries.

A release from the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said the department was notified of the incident, which occurred near the intersection of 975th Street and 818th Avenue in River Falls, around 7:28 p.m.

It was determined that 77-year-old Arthur Smith of River Falls had been leaning against the driver's side of a vehicle that was legally parked with the door open.

A 2008 Nissan Altima driven by 18-year-old Logan Branigan of River Falls was traveling south on 975th Street when it crashed into the car Smith had been leaning against, making contact with him as well.

The matter remains under investigation.
