Man shot, taken to hospital early Monday morning in St. Paul

A man was taken to a hospital early Monday morning after being shot in the Prosperity Heights neighborhood in St. Paul.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to the 1300 block of Prosperity Avenue at about 2:21 a.m. for a reported shooting. There, officers found a 51-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Police said they are still searching for the suspect but believe it may be connected to a call from a couple hours earlier when officers were called to a Taco Bell on White Bear Avenue and found two people passed out in a vehicle, blocking the restaurant’s drive-thru lane. The driver of that vehicle ran away with a gun when an officer woke him up, police said.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing.
