Officers were called to 475 Wabasha Street S. at about 5:15 p.m. on reports of shots fired. Police found the man and a 4-year-old boy with gunshot wounds inside a 2019 Jeep Cherokee that was rolled over. The boy had non life-threatening injuries, but police considered the man's condition as "grave" Sunday night.

"He's gone too soon," said Jarrold McNeal, father of the victim.

McNeal said his son was also the father of two young children.

"All he wanted to do was take care of those kids this gun violence out here is just beyond crazy, we need to put the guns love," said McNeal.
