Man Pleads Not Guilty to 11 Counts Connected to South Metro Robberies

One of the men charged in connection with a string of robberies in the south metro pleaded not guilty to 11 counts Thursday.

According to court records, 27-year-old Jared Washington is charged with four counts each of first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree assault and one count each of first-degree burglary, motor vehicle theft and fleeing a peace officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Washington and another man - identified as Daiquawn Michael Burrell-Smith - robbed multiple people at gunpoint in Apple Valley, Eagan and Burnsville last month.

The men were arrested after allegedly fleeing police and crashing into a squad car. A juvenile male was also taken into custody at the time.

Smith was also scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
