Authorities have identified the man who was killed Friday after a shooting in Crystal.

A news release from the Crystal Police Department said officers were called around 7:45 p.m. to the 3000 block of Sumter Avenue, in front of the Crystal Village Apartments, on a report of someone laying on the ground in a parking lot.


When officers arrived, they located a 20-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He has been identified as DeShawn Chamberlin McCabe, according to a news release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

McCabe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the incident was not a random act and it is being investigated as a homicide.
