One person was killed after a vehicle crashed into a power pole and rolled in St. Paul Tuesday morning.

According to St. Paul police, officers were called to the 400 block of St. Anthony Avenue at about 5 a.m.

First responders saw a man in the vehicle who appeared deceased due to the severity of injuries, but they couldn't get to the person because live power lines were down around the vehicle, police said.

Xcel Energy responded and cut power to the lines so officers and paramedics could access the vehicle.

The man was then pronounced dead. He was the vehicle's lone occupant.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.

The man's identity is not yet being released pending notification of next of kin.
