Man in Custody After Reported Robbery, Assault at St. Cloud Mobile Home Park

A 37-year-old man was taken into custody Tuesday after a foot chase that followed a reported robbery and assault at a St. Cloud mobile home park.

A release from St. Cloud police said officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired at the Sherwood Manor Trailer Park on the 500 block of Highway 10 South Tuesday night.

Once on the scene, the release states officers determined a 58-year-old St. Cloud man had been robbed and assaulted inside his trailer. The man was reportedly struck in the head by a handgun. And, at one point, shots were believed to have been fired inside the residence.

The man was not struck by any gunfire, but the release said he suffered non-life threatening injuries from being struck by the gun. The suspect - identified as Aaron Dante Moreno of Sauk Rapids - reportedly fled on foot.

A man matching the suspect's description was identified at a nearby motel, but the release states he ran when officers approached. After a foot pursuit, he was tased and taken into custody. During the pursuit, a handgun allegedly fell from the suspect's hand/pocket to the ground.

After being taken to St. Cloud Hospital, Moreno was booked into the Benton County Jail.
