A man died Tuesday in a farm accident about 25 miles west of St. Cloud, the Stearns County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

The sheriff's office received a report of a missing person at 10:16 a.m. Tuesday on a farm in St. Martin Township. The caller was unable to find their son and believed he may have fallen into a grain bin, according to the release.

The St. Martin Fire Department worked in the grain bin, which was three-fourths full of corn, to extricate the victim. He has been identified as Brandon Schaefer, 35, of Albany, Minnesota.

Schaefer was taken to Paynesville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Early investigation indicates Schaefer was working to loosen up frozen corn in the grain bin when he fell in and was buried.
