One man identified as Edison David Matzabalin Toaza has died after an early morning shooting Sunday in Minneapolis. 

According to police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 2200 block of 6th Street North at 1:43 a.m. Sunday morning. Minutes later officers were advised that a shooting victim was on the 2000 block of Washington Avenue North. 


When officers arrived they located Toaza who had suffered gunshot wounds. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center by ambulance and was in critical condition.

Officers canvassed the area around 6th Street North and Washington Avenue North investigating the incident. 

On Monday morning, the Toaza died at the hospital.
