A man died and a firefighter was injured in a townhome fire in Columbia Heights Sunday evening.

The Columbia Heights Fire Department said firefighters from both Columbia Heights and Fridley responded to a fire report at a residence on the 700 block of Sullivan Way NE at about 5:19 p.m.

Initial reports indicated one person was possibly trapped inside the building.

The department said crews made several attempts to enter the home but were driven back by a structural collapse of the main floor.

A firefighter also suffered non-life-threatening injuries while searching the home.

The Columbia Heights Fire Department, Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office, Anoka County Fire Investigation Team and Anoka County Medical Examiner's Office are all investigating the fire.
