The Chisago County Sheriff's Office has some helpful tips for drivers to remember: Don't steal a car, flee law enforcement, get stuck in a field and then try to run away into a frozen swamp.

The sheriff's office said that happened Thursday afternoon and ended with one person in custody.

A man stole a vehicle in Minneapolis and ended up in the Pine County area, according to the sheriff's office. He then stole gas from a gas station, which led the station to contact local law enforcement.

A short time later, authorities learned the vehicle was stolen and was headed south on Interstate 35.

Chisago County deputies found the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled, forcing a deputy to deploy stop sticks, which deflated all four of the vehicle's tires.

However, the sheriff's office said the suspect then attempted to run away on foot. Deputies chased him down and took him into custody.

The sheriff's office gave a special shout out to a local farmer who used a tractor to pull a squad car out of the snow.
