Man Arrested After Fatal Overdose Released From Custody; No Charges Yet Filed

Jail records show the 23-year-old Maple Grove man arrested after a 59-year-old was found dead of an apparent drug overdose early Sunday morning in Minnetonka has been released from custody.

No charges have yet been filed against Riley Patrick Kendall. The Hennepin County Attorney's Office told KSTP the case has been sent back to the Minnetonka Police Department for additional investigation.

A release from the Minnetonka Police Department Monday said officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male on the 2000 block of Pine Island Road at around 8 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival on the scene, they found the 59-year-old dead.

Kendall, whom the release said placed the 911 call, was present when officers arrived. After an initial investigation, Kendall was taken into custody.
