Man Arrested After Carjacking With Child in Vehicle

December 08, 2017 10:11 PM

St. Paul police arrested a man Friday evening who jumped into a woman's vehicle while a child was inside, according to spokesman Steve Linders.

The woman, who was driving the vehicle on Interstate 35E, called police at about 4 p.m. and claimed a man she didn't know had entered the back seat of her car.

Minnesota State Patrol responded as she drove northbound near the Randolph Avenue exit, according to video from traffic cameras. The video shows the vehicle driving slowly in the right lanes, with its hazard lights on, as several state troopers follow behind without turning on their emergency lights.

Police arrested the suspect at the intersection of Payne Avenue and Orange Avenue East about 20 minutes later.

Linders said nobody was injured in the incident.
