The man accused of killing a Watertown woman by striking her with a vehicle in November 2017 was sentenced Tuesday to one year in a work-release program and 10 years of supervised probation.
A judge in Carver County sentenced Casey Hoskins to 48 months in prison, but stayed that sentence pending successful conclusion of his probation. He also sentenced him to one year in the Carver County Jail but will allow that sentence to be served as work release.
Hoskins entered an amended guilty plea to one count of criminal vehicular homicide last November.
The Carver County Sheriff's Office said 33-year-old Jessica Suzanne Ludenia of Watertown died after being taken to a Waconia hospital in November 2017.
Deputies had been called to the 800 block of Deerfield Road on a report of an unresponsive female in the road. When they arrived, Ludenia was being loaded into an ambulance by paramedics, according to the release.
Emergency room personnel at Ridgeview Hospital later informed deputies she had died.
