Major ice jam released on Minnesota River between Mankato, St. Peter

A major ice jam that formed between Mankato and St. Peter released late Wednesday afternoon, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

MnDOT shared footage of the ice jam release on Twitter Thursday morning.

After the ice jam released, the river rose 2-feet in a four-hour period.
