Macalester College is investigating three different occasions where racist symbols and speech were found on campus.

According to a release from the college, there were two incidents in which swastikas were found in residence halls. On Oct. 14, the college reported finding a swastika carved into a room door in a residence hall. On Oct. 27, another swastika that was drawn on a bulletin board was discovered.

Because of the location, the college believes the vandalism was done by someone within the Macalester community.

On Thursday, campus security and the St. Paul Police Department were alerted that someone left anti-Arab hate speech on the door of a janitorial closet. 

The college does not believe any specific student or employee was targeted.

In a statement released Friday, the college condemned the vandalism.

"Actions such as these are clearly unacceptable," the statement said. "Macalester strives to build a just and inclusive community and, through our remarkable students, a more just and inclusive world."
