Former fugitive Lois Riess, the Blooming Prairie woman named a person of interest in her husband's death in Minnesota, has entered a written plea of not guilty in Lee County, Florida, where she is facing murder and other charges in connection to the death of a woman there, according to court documents.
The plea was filed last Thursday.
Florida authorities say Riess killed 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson in order to steal her identity and car, which she used to flee to Texas. She was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service on April 19 in South Padre Island, not far from the Mexican border.
Court documents show Riess is charged with second-degree murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft and criminal use of personal identification information.
