A group of employees from ECMC Group in downtown Minneapolis spent part of Veterans Day packing 250 cold-weather survival kits for homeless veterans.
The care packages include more than 3,700 donated items, as well as personal, hand-written thank you notes.

On this day designated to honor the country's veterans, these volunteers say they are more than happy to help but are also sad there is a need for it.
"They have given up everything so that we can have a nice life, and it's tragic they don't have the basic needs they should," said Sue Betker, whose dad was a veteran.
According to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, at last count, there were at least 317 veterans experiencing homelessness in Minnesota.
