Lawsuit alleges woman was sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein in Dakota County

A newly filed lawsuit in Dakota County alleges Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy financier who was arrested on sex-trafficking charges last year, sexually abused a woman in Minnesota.

According to the lawsuit, Epstein "initiated, orchestrated, and facilitated numerous crimes to subject the plaintiff to a forced, immoral relationship of sexual and economic servitude benefitting the defendants."

It also states Epstein was psychologically abusive and initiated "drug-facilitated sexual assaults of the plaintiff throughout the majority of her childhood and her adult life." The lawsuit goes on to state Epstein tried to extort the plaintiff to recover money he paid as a settlement in a separate sexual abuse case.

The lawsuit seeks damages in the amount of $500 million.

Epstein hanged himself on Aug. 10, 2019, after his arrest.

KSTP does not name victims of alleged sexual abuse without their permission.
