Lake Minnetonka Conservation District announces new regulations for toilets on boats

Updated: November 25, 2019 06:08 PM

Officials are taking action to prevent another illness outbreak on Lake Minnetonka.

Monday, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District announced updated regulations regarding toilets on boats.

The regulation expands the definition of sewage to include "mobile sources" and requires toilet pumps to be removed from boats.

The move is to prevent raw sewage from getting into the water.

Last summer, more than 200 people reported getting sick after visiting the lake over the Fourth of July weekend.

The cause of the outbreak has not been determined.
