Unarmed and in her pajamas, Justine Ruszczyk was fatally shot by one of the Minneapolis officers she had called for help.

No one was more baffled, more heartbroken, and more lost than Ruszczyk's father.

John Ruszczyk had not spoken with an American journalist until his interview with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Anchor Megan Newquist.

Newquist traveled to Sydney to talk with John, who shared his perspective on the case, which began with receiving the agonizing call that his only daughter was dead.

Hear from John during a special report on 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Thursday at 10 p.m.
