Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen announced Tuesday that a 30-year-old Jordan man has been arrested in connection to the death of a 17-month-old child in Sand Creek Township in August.

A release said Jason Robert Betlach, who is alleged to have been the child's caretaker at the time of the incident, has been booked into the Scott County Jail.

Deputies and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene on Morlock Drive on the afternoon of Aug. 26. There, they located an unresponsive female child. The child was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, then was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis where she later died.

A release at the time said the child had been placed in foster care at the residence.

The release Tuesday said that due to the complexity of the child's injuries, additional examination was required by specialists, prolonging the autopsy results.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has now ruled the death a homicide.
