Iconic North Minneapolis pizza shop may close

It may be the end of the line for an iconic Twin Cities restaurant.

Broadway Bar & Pizza is in talks to close its north Minneapolis location.

The owner plans to sell the land to a developer to build a seven-story affordable housing apartment building.

"We've been in north for 30 years," Broadway Pizza CEO Jim Kruizenga said. "We really feel that the legacy we wanted to leave with something that fit into north that they can be proud of and that's why the affordable housing thing came along."

The project is not a done deal and the earliest the restaurant would close would be sometime next year.

The closing would not affect other Broadway Bar & Pizza locations.
