Human remains were found on Saturday that could belong to a sailor who went missing in April.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office responded to a caller who reported visible remains around 4:30 p.m. The sheriff's office located the remains about 100 feet from the shore in Wabasha on a patch of dry land.

The remains consisted of a torso with one leg attached to it with a boot. The sheriff's office said the boot appears to match a boot found on a human leg in July near West Newton.

Authorities are not concluding whether this could or could not be a sailor who has been missing since April, David Sheridan.

The search for Sheridan has been on since April when his sailboat washed ashore near Lake Pepin.

The remains will now go to the Medical Examiner's office. Wabasha County said it hopes DNA testing will positively identify the remains.
