An Andover family is without a home after its garage caught fire and flames spread to the house. 

The fire happened on Round Lake Boulevard just after 10 p.m. Sunday. 


Fire crews told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the homeowner burned his hand and was treated at the scene. 

Additionally, the family dog is recovering after firefighters rescued the dog from the basement.

You know, they say part of our job, our main job, is to save life, it doesn't say human life, it's any life, so any time we can bring someone back we're happy as can be," Andover Fire Chief Jerry Streich said.

Firefighters are investigating what caused the fire.
