A homicide investigation is underway after police found a 67-year-old man dead in Hopkins Friday morning.

According to the Hopkins Police Department, officers responded to the 200 block of 10th Avenue North at about 3:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, they found the man and pronounced him dead.

Police arrested an adult male suspect in connection with the incident.

Authorities say there is no threat to nearby residents.

According to crime statistics kept by the city, it would mark the first homicide in Hopkins since 2014 and just the second going back to 2012.
