They left the bills, but kept the change ... a lot of it.

That's what the Stearns County Sheriff's Department says happened during a burglary at a Holdingford home last Sunday.

A release said a deputy responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on the 400 block of Riverside Street West. The homeowner's son said he returned the previous evening and noticed the service door to the garage had been pried open.

Several hundred dollars in cash had been sitting on top of a dresser in one room. But that money was neither moved nor taken.

Only one item was reported missing. That was a milk jug full of loose change - thought to total about $3,900 to $4,000.

The deputy responding reported none of the neighbors had seen anything out of the ordinary in the days preceding the burglary.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the sheriff's department at 320-251-4240.
