The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says charges have been filed against a 12-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing his 16-year-old brother Saturday in Minnetonka.

A release said because the case will be handled in the juvenile court system, no other information is public.

The 12-year-old was taken to the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview for evaluation before being released to his family. He was then taken into custody Sunday night and is awaiting possible charges at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police said the boys' mother and other family members were home at the time of the incident. Because the two brothers are minors, authorities are not releasing their names.
