About 35% of women and 37.6% of men in the U.S. have some form of cardiovascular disease, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. February is heart month, so we are taking a look at things we can do to protect and improve your heart health.

Today Dr. Katie Carlson from the Metropolitan Heart Vascular Institute shares some changes we can all make:

  • Get a lipid panel regularly for adults and young people
  • Have a heart healthy diet e.g., Mediterranean diet
  • Eating good fats
  • Get at least 150 minutes of exercise per week
