Habeas creep-us: Minnesota judge maintains horror-themed side business

Updated: October 31, 2019 06:24 PM

This Minnesota judge's love for all things horror goes beyond Halloween. For the past decade, he's maintained a spooky side business.

Ramsey County District Court Judge George Stephenson creates busts and figurines of horror movie characters and sells them across the world.

Stephenson grew up loving monsters and movies, and now he's turned his hobby into a side job.

"As a kid I grew up watching horror and science fiction movies — that's what my family was really into," Stephenson said. "It's an outlet. It's a nice release. Do something creative and something I'm interested in, and it's fun — gets my mind off of other stuff. When I'm finished I actually have something to show for it."

The spooky creations can cost as little as a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand.

Some of Stephenson's work is on display at Universal Studios in Florida.
