Grass Being Installed This Week at Allianz Field

On Sunday, a crowd of 52,242 turned out to see the Minnesota United play their final home game at TCF Bank Stadium.

And on Monday, the team began installing grass at its new home at Allianz Field.

The franchise has played its first two seasons at the University of Minnesota's home stadium. But Allianz Field - in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood - is expected to be ready for the start of play in 2019.

The team announced grass is being installed at the facility this week. Installation began Monday and is expected to continue Tuesday and Wednesday as well.

The $150 million stadium is being built with private funds. It's expected to hold a capacity of 19,400.
