A GoFundMe account set up by a family friend of a boy who was thrown off the third-level balcony at the Mall of America earlier this month has reached $1 million as of Friday, according to the website.

The money raised stands at $1,000,070 as of 4:45 p.m. Friday. The fundraiser was created on April 13 and has been donated by 28,216 people.

A family spokesperson on Friday said the five-year-old boy is now out of critical condition and alert and conscious. The family also hopes the boy will be able to return home by June.

Over the past weekend, the pastor of the family's church announced an recent MRI test showed the boy had no brain damage or swelling, no spinal cord injury or serious internal injuries.

The pastor had also mentioned how a physician working closely with the boy had said the injuries were compared to a bicycle crash rather than falling several stories. Tillitt would not confirm what the pastor said, but stated the comparison only referred to the boy's facial injuries. Tillitt went on to say the family has requested privacy and confirmation or denials of the pastor's comments would go against their wishes of privacy.

The man accused of throwing him from the balcony, 24-year-old Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, has been charged with first-degree premeditated attempt to commit murder in Hennepin County.
