New development forcing longtime Minneapolis auto repair shop to close next month

June 19, 2019 06:46 PM

After more than three decades, Four Star Auto Service on University Avenue in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis has announced it is closing next month because of new development.

The building shop owner Brain Fautch rents is being sold and apartments will go up where it now stands.

The last day the shop will be open for business is July 19.

"It will be very emotional I'm sure," Fautch said. "Because it's closing a big, big chapter in my life and the life of the neighborhood here."

Since the closing was posted on Facebook, there has been a parade of customers at the shop wanting to get one more oil change.
