For years, a piece of St. Paul history sat empty but now the old Woolworth's building in downtown is getting new life.

The 428 Building is set to open in August.

Air and water in the office building will be filtered, natural daylight fills every tenant space, and there's a large rooftop patio.

The building hopes to be the first in Minnesota to receive both wellness and environmental certification.

"We're doing things that will not be like another building in the Twin Cities and the state," developer Pat Wolf said. "We had a great building to work with. We wanted people to remember that this is what the building used to be."

The building is incorporating light fixtures, a sign, and lunch counter from the former Woolworth's.
