A man who evaded police during a search that lasted all of Monday morning has finally been taken into custody, authorities say.

Wyoming Police Chief Paul Hoppe said Jesse Lee Satter was arrested after the vehicle in which he was fleeing from Forest Lake police officers crashed at Interstate 35 and County Road 23 in Lino Lakes early Monday afternoon.

The pursuit began when Wyoming police reportedly pulled over a vehicle for not having its lights on around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Hoppe said during that traffic stop, a male suspect with warrants, Satter, was in the passenger seat with a female behind the wheel. Hoppe said Satter is alleged to have pushed the female out of the vehicle.

A release from Wyoming police said he rammed two squad cars while trying to flee, striking two officers in the process. Both sustained minor injuries.

The chase continued into Forest Lake, according to the release. There, Satter fled on foot and was able to evade capture.

At 8:30 a.m., Hoppe said police received a tip that Satter may have entered the Forest Lake Walmart. The store was emptied and swept by police, but he was not found.

But around 12:45 p.m., the release said Forest Lake police observed him getting into a vehicle as a passenger. When officers tried to pull over the vehicle, he is alleged to have jumped behind the wheel and taken off again.

That chase then ended with the crash in Lino Lakes. Hoppe said Satter is currently being evaluated in a hospital.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story misidentified the suspect in the chase as Paul Hoppe. Hoppe is the police chief of the Wyoming Police Department. The suspect was identified as Jesse Lee Satter.
