Highway 19, from Henderson to Highway 169, was closed Tuesday due to flooding from the Minnesota River.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol said motorists will need to find an alternate route, as Highway 93 south of Henderson is already closed due to flooding.
Highway 19 will remain closed until further notice.
Highways that remain closed:
• Highway 19 east of Henderson
• Highway 93 south of Henderson
• Highway 4 north of St. James
• Highway 30 east of Mapleton
MnDOT reminded drivers when a road is closed it's illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
You can check 511mn.org for information on road conditions, closures and detour routes.
Henderson Fire and Rescue also said they'll put up flood gates on State Highway 93 at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. If you want to help out, you can meet at the fire hall at that time. It also said they'll wait to put flood gates on State Highway 19 until it gets closer to the high water projection.
