Flash flooding damages Waite Park restaurant

March 24, 2019 07:20 AM

A restaurant in Waite Park is recovering after flooding caused significant damage.

In a Facebook post, Anton's Restaurant employees stated flash flooding from the Sauk River began at about 7:30 p.m.

The river "couldn't contain the force and pushed its way over the banks in the parking lot and restaurant," the message stated.

The water swept through the parking lot and the entire restaurant, while people were eating inside.

Waite Park firefighters, police and rescue team members ssisted at the scene.

"We have never experienced anything like this before," the message went on to state. "Yes, we’ve flooded but there has been forewarning and time to prepare. Thank you to our Waite Park Fire Department & Rescue and Waite Park Police Department! We will keep you posted on our progress and we’ll be open again as soon as possible!"
