Final State Fair preparations underway

There are just three short days left before the Great Minnesota Get-Together is back!

On Monday, the State Fair tweeted a timelapse video of crews installing the pedestrian bridge over Como Avenue. And that's not all that's going up at the fairgrounds in this rush to get everything ready.

It's organized chaos right now at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Vendors are setting up, trucks are going in every direction making food deliveries and, of course, crews are getting all the rides and attractions set up, including the Great Big Wheel, which is now on its third year at the fair.

The Wheel was driven in following the Wisconsin State Fair on 12 semi trucks, and work setting it up started Friday. Once everything is in place, the Great Big Wheel will be inspected and tested before the first riders step on the relaxing ride Thursday.

"The Great Big Wheel is the tallest traveling Ferris wheel in North America," said Danielle Dullinger, a spokesperson for the Minnesota State Fair. "It stands 156 feet tall and has 36 gondolas. It's just $5 a rider and you can see not just on the fairgrounds but beyond both of the cities."

With great views, it's a great ride any time of day, but even if rides aren't your thing, make sure to watch its light display from the ground once the sun sets.
