Minneapolis police say the FBI is now assisting in the investigation of body parts found in four locations around the city this summer. The remains were all identified as belonging to 36-year-old Adam Richard Johnson.

Family members tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they hired a private investigator but, four months after Johnson's death, there are still few answers and no arrests.

"We don't have anything. We need more," said a former girlfriend of Johnson who asked to only be identified as JoJo.

She spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time since June, when neighbors found the first of Johnson's remains across two blocks in northeast Minneapolis.

"There is somebody out there. There is somebody that's heard something or seen something, and that's what we're looking for," said the woman, who is the mother of one of Johnson's two children.

The Minneapolis Police Department declined to comment about the case, only saying that it's an active investigation. MPD previously called Johnson's death a homicide and said they believed he had been targeted.

Johnson's loved ones say he struggled with mental health issues and addiction but say they were told he didn't have drugs in his system at the time of his death.

"This was not gang (related), this was not a drug cartel," JoJo said. "This was somebody that knew him and knew him specifically."

She is again asking for anyone with information about Johnson's death to come forward.

"I drive myself crazy thinking about what happened to him and how it happened," she said. "But that's something that I have to think about because this is our reality."
