Suspect in Fatal St. Paul Shooting Reports Incident

A man was taken into custody after an argument and fatal shooting in St. Paul Wednesday night.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were called to the scene on the 800 block of Rice Street at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.


Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Regions Hospital where he later died.

An adult male suspect, who had called police to report the shooting, was detained and taken in to police headquarters for questioning, according to police.

Police said the suspect and victim had had an argument, which had taken place on the sidewalk in front of a bar, before the shooting.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the suspect and victim.

Authorities recovered two handguns from the scene and police are searching for witnesses. Anyone with any information on the case is asked to call the St. Paul Police Department.

Police said the incident marked the 14th homicide this year.
