Two brothers, one crime and a heartbroken family.

Eric Young, 24, is accused of stabbing his younger brother, 17-year-old Davant Coppage, to death.

"I have an empty part in my heart, it’s been shattered," said Angela Owens, Coppage’s and Young’s mother.

St. Paul man charged with 2 counts of second-degree murder of his 17-year-old brother

"It’s so hard to grasp and hold on to. But most of all I thank God, I thank God for letting me be his mother," she went on to say.

Coppage was going into his senior year of high school at Harding High School in St. Paul. He hoped to start on the varsity football team this year.

"He was going to be something, he was definitely going to be something. To have to bury my baby brother, and look at my brother in court and not show any sign of remorse, this hurts," Shaunta Bailey, Coppage’s sister, said.

When asked what Bailey would say to Young, she said she’d simply say, "Why?"
