Three people, Thomas Plasch and Miriam Espinosa, both of Oakdale, and Cody Cook-Terhurne, of Somerset, Wisconsin, all died after a crash in the intersection of Highway 64 and County Road T, just east of New Richmond, Wisconsin.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office said the northbound stop sign at the intersection on County Road T was reported knocked down just moments before the accident around 7 p.m. Friday.

James Plasch, Tom's brother, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that his brother was a "great family man" who left his Oakdale home Friday night to check on his Wisconsin cabin after storms rolled through the area.

"Turns out his cabin was not damaged by the storms, but he never made it there to find out," said Plasch. "He loved his three grown boys and we are all just in shock."

Tess Plasch, Tom's sister-in-law, told KSTP that Miriam was her brother-in-law's girlfriend, and was equally loved by the entire family and will be greatly missed.

"It is just so sad that they are both gone so soon," said Tess Plasch. "They were very kind people and they were perfect for each other and would do anything for anyone."

Tina Cook, Cody Cook-Terhurne's sister, told KSTP that his family is devastated by what happened and said Cody was a great father, brother and son.

"He just loved his children so much, his family, and he loved his dad, too," said Cook. "He was a good family man and he died doing what he loved to do, and that is ride a motorcycle."

The sheriff's office has announced that the knocked down stop sign was not a factor in this crash.

In a release the sheriff's office stated that they recieved a call 10 minutes prior to the crash complaining about a motorcycle and operator matching the description of Mr. Cook-Terhurne traveling at a high rate of speed and passing the caller on the center line due to on-coming traffic.
