The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has confirmed an Emerald Ash Borer infestation in Burnsville, a release from the city stated Wednesday.
The release states the discovery was made by a city forestry crew member working in the area of McAndrews Road and 139th Street in the central portion of the city.
According to the release, because of EAB infestations in surrounding cities, city leaders in Burnsville approved a plan in 2013 to begin protecting selected ash trees and removing others.
Any residents who believe their ash trees may be infested with EAB are asked to call a tree care professional, or the city forester at 952-895-4508.
