Eden Prairie Police Investigating Fatal Home Burglary

One man is dead after a burglary in a residential area in Eden Prairie Saturday night. 

According to a release from the City of Eden Prairie, the incident occurred Saturday night around 10:41 p.m. on Jennifer Court. Police received a call from a woman who said her home had been broken into and two suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The caller noted a man who was in the home with her at the time of the burglary was in need of medical attention.

The Eden Prairie Police and Fire Departments, along with Hennepin County EMS, responded and performed CPR on the man. However, he was eventually pronounced deceased on scene. It was not immediately clear to first responders at the scene what may have caused the man's medical condition. 

The initial investigation indicates the home invasion was a targeted incident and police believe there is no danger to the public related to this case. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the identity of the deceased and cause of death. 

Police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident.

The Eden Prairie Police Department and Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Crime Lab are processing the scene and investigating this case. Due to this being an active investigation, no other information is available at this time.
