A man was arrested after crashing right in front of Eagan Police officers Monday while driving drunk, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Three officers were parked at an Eagan fire station around 3 p.m. Monday on Blackhawk Road when they heard screeching tires, according to the statement. When they looked up, they saw a black Chevrolet pickup truck headed south from Diffley Road lose control and drive up the support lines for a power pole.

The truck spun sideways in the air and landed on its roof, the post states.

The driver couldn't explain what happened, but officers got a solid hint when they discovered empty containers scattered throughout the truck, according to the post. Upon investigation, the driver was found to have been impaired by alcohol.

The driver, identified as Marc Medland, refused to submit to a chemical test and was charged with a gross misdemeanor DUI in connection with the crash. He is being held in Dakota County Jail in advance of a court appearance Wednesday morning.
