The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will hold a series of public meetings across the state beginning later this month at which members of the public are invited to share their opinions on regulations in place or proposed for 15 lakes and one trout stream.

According to a release, among the topics that will be covered in the sessions are proposals to modify existing special walleye regulations on Leech Lake, walleye and sauger regulations on Lake of the Woods and Rainy River, northern pike regulations on Lake Vermilion and a review of experimental walleye regulations on Kabetogama, Namakan, Crane and Little Vermilion lakes.

The scheduled meetings include:

  • St. Louis County (Tower area fisheries), review of special northern pike regulations on Lake Vermilion, 6 to 8 p.m., Aug. 22, Tower Civic Center.
  • Hubbard County (Park Rapids area fisheries), review a proposal for sunfish and crappie regulations on 5th and 6th Crow Wing lakes, 7 to 9 p.m., Sept. 5, Northwoods Bank Community Meeting Room, Park Rapids.
  • South Dakota border waters (Ortonville area fisheries), Hendricks Lake, Big Stone Lake, Traverse Lake, Bois de Sioux River from mouth to Highway 117 bridge, 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 11, DNR Fisheries Office, Ortonville.
  • Meeker County (Hutchinson area fisheries), review of special northern pike regulation on Minnie-Belle Lake, 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 18, Meeker County Courthouse, Litchfield.
  • Fillmore County (Lanesboro area fisheries), review a proposal for special trout regulations on Rush Creek within the city of Rushford, 4 to 6 p.m., Sept 20, Rushford City Hall.
  • Cass County (Walker area fisheries), review of special walleye regulations on Leech Lake, 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 24, Walker Community Center.
  • Stearns County (Sauk Rapids fisheries area), review experimental northern pike regulation on Pearl Lake and special regulation for northern Pike on Big Fish Lake, Big Fish Lake meeting - 6 to 8 p.m., Sept. 26, Collegeville Township Hall; Pearl Lake meeting - 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 9, Holy Cross Catholic School, Kimball.
  • St. Louis County (International Falls fisheries), review of special walleye regulations on Namkan Reservoir (Kabetogama, Namakan, Sand Point, Crane and Little Vermilion lakes), 7 to 9 p.m., Oct. 2, Kabetogama Community Center, Kabetogama; Another meeting is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m., Oct. 4, Crane Lake Fire Hall.
  • Wright County, review of experimental northern pike regulations on East and West Sylvia Lakes, 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 4, Southside Township Hall, Annandale.
  • Lake of the Woods and Koochiching Counties (Baudette area fisheries), review of special walleye and sauger regulations on Lake of the Woods and Rainy River, 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 8, Lake of the Woods High School, Baudette.
  • Pine County (Hinckley area fisheries), review of special northern pike regulation on Sturgeon Lake, 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 9, YMCA Camp Miller in Mitchell Lodge, Sturgeon Lake.
