Digital Daily: Uber Removes Driver Who Kicked Lesbian Couple Out of Car

June 12, 2018 08:29 PM

An Uber driver was removed by the ride-sharing service after a lesbian couple accused him of kicking them out of his car for sharing a kiss during their ride.

Alex Iovine and her girlfriend Emma Pichl say after they shared a "peck" on the lips, the driver pulled over and forced them out of the car.

The driver, Ahmad El Boutari, told the NY Daily News that he would do the same thing to a straight couple, but that he had less tolerance for a same-sex couple.

Uber's CEO issued a strong statement in response, condemning "any form of discrimination" from their drivers and adding that the company will launch a full investigation

This incident comes during gay pride month, a month meant to celebrate the LGBT community

Uber told ABC News that they have removed Boutari's access to their app
