According to the DNR, studies show the walleye numbers in the central Minnesota lake are increasing, but, "some classes remain below normal or average."
The DNR said a 2018 population estimate reports there are a total of 727,000 walleye in the lake that are 14 inches and longer. That number is up from 2013 and 2014 population estimates, which said there were an estimated 250,000 that were 14 inches and longer.
